How to achieve the perfect fake tan

How to achieve the perfect fake tan

There is  a common belief that self tan, or fake tan can disguise a multitude of imperfections on skin, but it is also true that self-tan can make skin look worse, especially if it is applied already dry, patchy and uneven looking skin.  Those suffering from “ Crocodile skin” (skin so dry it looks almost scaly, especially on the lower legs) will know from experience that self-tanning cream is not the answer, as it will simply cling to the superficial dead skin, creating a mottled effect.

The most effective way to  prepare the body for self-tanning is to begin with a light all over exfoliation, using a glove or mitt on dampened skin, either in the  shower or bath. It should be noted that if a glove is used in the bath, you will need to shower afterwards to remove any dead skin that has lifted off during the process. Pay careful attention to areas such as elbows, knees, ankles, chest and neck, as these are the parts that self-tanner will adhere to the most.

While skin is still damp and tingling, apply a light, un-fragranced, oil free body moisturiser with ingredients such  hyaluronic acid, glycerine and shea butter, all of which will add in providing on going hydration. Allow the product to penetrate and you’re ready to apply the self-tanner of your choice.
